01/23/2019 02:00 PM - 03/13/2019 04:30 PM ET
Description
Students will be introduced to the art of illumination and decoration of the books in the Islamic tradition. It has been an important art form in different Muslim dynasties in the past. Islamic painters were famous for their vivid colors, elegant brushwork and ornamental borders. Amazingly the vivid and dazzling colors have not changed, artists of the modern times still use the same color palette. The students will first learn the fundamental elements of the Arabesque patterns and will then learn to develop their own designs by repetition and symmetry as in traditional art. As the class progress the tools and traditional techniques of the old master will be discussed and explained through demos and visual aids. Instructor: Lubna Zahid
