In conjunction with the exhibition Intention/Invention, artist Delna Dastur will be leading a one-day workshop focusing on layering with paint.
Paintings that are complex in their layering are compelling, inviting the viewer to spend time exploring their depths. In this workshop, we will learn different ways to create layers. A variety of materials will be used, some dry, like graphite pencils, and others requiring water to create transparent washes. Layering results in unexpected surprises. It is a creative process that unfolds as the work progresses. There is freedom to be gained by shedding expectations and allowing the work to be your guide.
